A lot of people know the profession of physiotherapy, but not a lot of people know what a physio does, can treat or help with.
Often physiotherapists deal with musculoskeletal injuries or pain. This means injuries or pain relating to the muscles, bones and ligaments of the body. Some examples of conditions in this field include:
Headaches
Back pain and stiffness
Sports injuries
Hip and groin pain
Neck pain and stiffness
Shoulder pain, tension or stiffness
Pain down your arm, which stops you from going to sleep at night or affects your daily activities
Pain or pins and needles in your legs
Pain underneath your foot
Pain in your lower back when you sit or stand for even short periods
Ankle or knee injuries
Pain in the hamstring, groin, calf or the achilles tendon
Pain in your back when you bend like when putting on your socks and shoes
These are just some the common conditions we see at our practice. There are also some physiotherapists specialized in treating cardiorespiratory problems and neurological conditions. Physiotherapy for these conditions if chronic, can be accessed under a Chronic Disease Management Plan under Medicare or some people might also be under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We service both of these at our clinic.
If you are still unsure if your condition meets the above criteria, feel free to give us a call and one of our friendly staff can inform you if we can help you with your condition!
